Dead or Alive Ultimate? Wasn't it Dead or Alive Online? Tecmo changed the name... again. First it was Dead or Alive Online, then Dead or Alive the Ultimate Collection volume 1, now Dead or Alive Ultimate.
“We have made the decision to push back [DOA Ultimate's] launch date to improve on the game's quality, increase its volume to a more satisfactory level, and to offer a better a [online] serviceâ€, commented Tecmo in a press release. “We appreciate the support from all fans of the Dead or Alive [series], and we will polish the game to make it meet the strong expectations from everyone.â€
Dead or Alive Online was originally slated for release on March 25 in Japan. The game consists of a port of the original Dead or Alive from the Sega Saturn and a port of Dead or Alive 2 that has been redesigned to meet the standards of the Xbox console. Both games are Xbox Live-enabled.
Dead or Alive Ultimate will be a combination of the original Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive 2, with online play using Xbox Live. The original Dead or Alive will have the graphics quality of the Sega Saturn version of the game, while Dead or Alive 2 will have enhanced graphics aimed for the Xbox. Xbox will recreate the versions carfully, and close to the story lines. So pretty much the only change will be gameplay, and graphics.
Dead or Alive Ultimate is made up of two disks. It will be released sometime this summer.
